Greetings from the land of kangaroos! Yes I've landed safely in Launceston, the pandora of Australia, in a small island called Tasmania... Pleasant flight, nice airplane food(yummzz)....
Leaving Malaysia wasn't a really a sad thing for me, probably because I know I'd be safe with the people who will be welcoming me in Tasmania! So did the usuals, said byebye to family, took pictures, and carried our goddamn heavy handcarried luggage through the checkpoints and onto the shuttle bus to the international terminal (coz the aerotrain service was under upgrading work)...
handcarried: 8kg
camera bag: 1kg
laptop bag: 6kg
total weight on body and arm = 15kg
what a relief to be on the plane sited comfortably with an empty seat next to me yay ample space!.....
pictures?...............
Anywayyyyyyyy.......
Reached Melbourne around 8ish in the evening, made through immigration and customs till about 10ish and went through hell carrying out luggages walking in the night searching and asking for directions towards our transit hotel. Walked and walked and walked finaly found the hotel!!! Sweat like mad, thirstly like mad, happy like mad..... and we checked in. And the funny thing was there were trolleys outside the hotel, and when asked whether we are allowed to take the trolley the next day when we leave for the airport, the receptionist said "you know what? just take it." "just take it! and put it in your room!"
........
and so we did....
so the next day we checked in to our flight that was scheduled at 12.15pm, since there was sooo much time, we went to the international arrival and waited for our friends who will be going to Uni Melb. We saw them, say hi and bye then headed for Launceston! Wohoo!
Now the sad part is, that we do not have any accommodation in Launceston as we're still applying for a house. So temporarily (and still) living with the group of friendliest friends we have in Launceston.
here are some of the pictures...
tallest shopping mall in Launceston city, 5 storyes tall!
Fact: The local municipal wants to preserve Launceston and maintain its rich herritage and history, as Hobart(the main city of Tasmania) is quite populated with highrise buildings, soooo, they have decided that Launceston should be as humble and thus strive to protect as much heritage buildings as they can, therefore it is a rule that all buildings must not be taller than 5 storyes.... sad but then that makes this place so unique and beautiful!
the city!

pictures of where I am living and where I will be living, the neighbourhood.
Mowbray and nature and the Tamar river!

and Uni! The architecture campus at Inveresk.
an old factory that has been converted into a learning centre. How cool is that. They try not to do too much changes to it, preserving much of its original factory form and building materials. You can say that we're actually studying in a warehouse! But inside is totally a new environment, so lively, bright, and condusive for our course where discussions and display areas are important to us.
and what's behind the campus......
So, first week of classes has been.... terrifying!!! THE HORROR!
Nolah, that was a joke..........................
Classes have been great, met new people, new culture, adapted to it quite well, I think I've become friendlier hmmm... lecturers are awesomeeee! They are so professional! And very enthusiastic about their subject, first week classes we were given assignments! NNUUUUOOHHH!! Hmmm.... trying hard to catch up! =D
So that's all for now, will update more and please please please, pray that we'll get a house ASAP!
Tudalooooo!
